Coaching allows you time to reflect, discuss and explore how you can grow and fulfil your own potential. You may have a specific goal in mind or you may wish to work with me to discuss your broader development. Unlike mentoring, coaching is not about advising you. You will come to coaching with an open mind to discover more about yourself in a confidential and safe environment and will take responsibility for the outcomes and actions resulting from the sessions. Coaching can help with career, leadership but also life ambitions and personal development.Coaching with me involves agreeing one to one sessions over a period of time whereby I will facilitate open discussions with you to help you achieve your goals and outcomes. I will work with you to help you find the answers within yourself and help you focus on what is important to you.
Mentoring is generally more focused on your career and is more advisory in nature. Mentoring can involve elements of coaching but is more designed for those specifically seeking advice on particular questions you may have about career progression, networking, challenges or where advice is sought on a specific issue. If you have a specific career area you wish to discuss and want one to one advice then mentoring is for you. For a more holistic approach of your life and more in-depth self-reflection then life coaching is recommended.
Being in a leadership position often means you have no colleagues you can directly discuss concerns or strategies with. Friends and families may not understand your role in sport. I provide one to one confidential leadership sessions which provide a sounding board for you to discuss and work on specific issues or concerns you may have. You may just wish to engage with someone who understands your position in Sport but is not directly connected to your organisation.
