GOVERNANCE RESTRUCTURE FOR A LARGE NATIONAL FEDERATION

Working closely with the Board and the Chief Executive to restructure and overhaul the organisations Constitution, Policies, Rules, Committees and Strategic Plan. This work involved liaising with working groups, agreeing key areas for change, drafting all documentation, extensive consultation process with membership and ensuring changes could be implemented in a manner that appealed to all stakeholders. The internal political landscape of the organisation was challenging and the work involved a strategic approach to influence change and ensure all members and stakeholders were part of the process.

AUDITING GOOD GOVERNANCE PRACTICE FOR A SMALL NATIONAL FEDERATION

Carrying out a review and audit of a largely volunteer led Federation of its policies, practices and procedures to ensure it complied with new governance funding criteria set out by stakeholders and government. The work included identifying any gaps in governance practices and drafting all necessary policies and papers required to assist the Federation comply with the mandatory good governance code in place.

STAFF TRAINING AND WEEKLY GOOD GOVERNANCE FORUM FOR CLUB DEVELOPMENT STAFF

Provision of weekly online staff training and a weekly Q & A forum on behalf of a National Federation for its Club Development and Club Support personnel. In this case the service was designed specifically for a National Federation that wanted to roll out training for its Club Development personnel and wanted to provide quick access to governance advisory services. The training and weekly forum primarily focused on effective club governance, constitutional reforms and practical solutions to key club governance questions raised by Club Development and Support staff.

WEBINAR AND BESPOKE ONLINE CLUB GOVERNANCE TRAINING

Designing and delivering bespoke online Club training and information webinars to large, medium and smaller group audiences on behalf of a number of National Federations. Topics included; how to effectively run and structure your club, best governance practice, committee structures, roles of club personnel, election procedures and general meetings. Audience size ranged from 20 to 400 in line with the requirements of the National Federation.

WRITING A CLUB GOVERNANCE GUIDE FOR A LARGE NATIONAL FEDERATION

Writing a complete governance guide for a National Federation which has been published and issued to all of its member clubs. This involved a six month consultation process with a Governance Committee and the Board, identifying focus areas, compliance with best practice and rolling out educational webinars to member clubs.

WOMENS LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND MENTORING

Sarah O’Shea of SOS Sports Consult in partnership with Lisa Clancy of Clansult have designed and delivered a unique Women in Sport Leadership Programme to over 100 Women in Sport who work or volunteer in over 20 different sporting bodies. This specific programme was delivered online over an 8 week period. The programme was hugely successful and is continuing with more National Federations booking places on behalf of staff and volunteers. This programme can be adapted to be delivered in person, online or over a shorter two day intensive period and can be rolled out to any size organisation, anywhere in the world and over any time period.
